See the Wolf
A one-woman show I created and perform, See the Wolf braids folklore, poetry, and personal history to tell the story of my mother and me: surviving abuse, finding our voices, and rewriting what we’ve been taught to endure.

They are passed down, reshaped, and retold, carrying the echoes of those who came before us. Drawing from Little Red Riding Hood, Persephone, my own story, and more, See the Wolf reclaims familiar narratives to examine how we are taught to see danger, and how often we are taught to ignore it.

At its center is the story of my mother and me navigating an abusive situation, and the long, nonlinear process of recognizing harm, surviving it, and learning how to speak about it. The work moves between storytelling, movement, and direct address, shifting between girlhood and womanhood, silence and voice.

While deeply personal, See the Wolf reaches beyond a single experience. It speaks to the broader systems that allow abuse to persist, systems that silence, discredit, and isolate. It asks what becomes possible when we choose to listen, to believe, and to stand with those who have been told not to trust their own knowing.

This piece is both an act of witnessing and an act of resistance. It invites audiences not only to see the wolf, but to name it.
